The Winter Solstice is upon us. The term ‘solstice’ means ‘sun stands still’ and has been celebrated since the Neolithic Ages. We in the Northern Hemisphere are in a time of the longest nights and the sun the farthest away from our tilting planet’s celestial equator. For the ancients, spiritual and cultural traditions developed into a celebration of fire and light to welcome the returning sun. It marked a new cycle, a turning of the seasons from which it only gets brighter.

It is a time of quiet listening. Around us there are animals hibernating. The earth herself is in sweet slumber, letting her womb regenerate. It is the time of the darkest of nights and as such is considered the “Dark Night of the Soul”. During this time, the veil between dimensions is faint. Receptors are sending messages to our adrenal, pituitary, and pineal glands to calm us down and prepare us for the dream state. With darkness dominating the day, our bodies are dancing with gamma waves. We are ready to transcend into higher states of consciousness and perhaps those of alternative dimensions are leaning in to whisper in our ears.

We are presented with the opportunity to uncover them, see them for what they are, and release those habits/beliefs. Saturn energy is about using time wisely and as we step into a new year, we reflect in order to move forward.
